Executive Coaching for Organizations

Executive coaching for organizations works differently than coaching a single self-paying executive — there’s a buyer (often HR, L&D, or a people leader), often multiple coachees, and a need for consistency across engagements without losing the personal fit that makes coaching work in the first place.

Enable Leaders helps you build your coaching programs around your organization directly wherever we can, and brings in additional outside resources only when a request is genuinely bigger or more specialized than what we handle in-house — we’ll tell you plainly which is the better fit rather than force everything through one model.

Why Organizations Are Buying Coaching Differently Now

Coaching used to be something an individual executive sought out and paid for personally. That’s no longer the typical path. In the 2025 ICF Global Coaching Study, more than half of all coaching clients are now employer-sponsored rather than self-paying — coaching has become something organizations actively build into how they develop leaders, not a perk an executive arranges on their own.

That shift creates a real problem for the people footing the bill. Buying coaching at the organizational level means solving for things an individual client never has to think about:

  • Consistency across coaches. A 2021 industry survey of 458 HR professionals found two-thirds of organizations blend internal and external coaches for leadership development — which means someone has to make sure quality doesn’t vary wildly depending on who a given leader happens to get.
  • Vetting coaches at scale. HR.com’s 2025 research on coaching and mentoring programs found a wide gap between organizations that do this well and those that don’t: in the strongest programs, roughly three-quarters of internal coaches are considered well-trained, versus well under half at organizations without a deliberate approach to quality. Vetting isn’t optional — it’s the difference between a coaching program that works and one that just exists.
  • Proving it was worth it. The upside is real when it’s done right — a widely cited PwC-backed global survey reported by ICF found companies see an average return of roughly seven times what they spend on coaching. But that number depends entirely on the matching and oversight behind it; a bad match multiplied across a leadership team is a bad outcome multiplied too.

What Executive Coaching for Organizations Looks Like

Organizations typically come to us for one of a few reasons:

  • A single high-priority leader — a new VP, a first-time people manager, someone on a succession track — needs a matched coach, sponsored by the company rather than self-paid.
  • A small leadership cohort (3–5 leaders) needs coaching in parallel, often around a shared theme: a reorg, a culture shift, a leadership-team reset.
  • A broader program — coaching woven into a leadership development initiative, onboarding for new managers, or a succession-planning effort touching many people at once.

We scope directly to which of these you’re solving for, rather than selling a fixed package.

How We Scope and Route Your Engagement

Most organizational requests are things we handle directly — matching one or several coaches to your leaders using the same fit-first process we use for individual clients, just with a company as the buyer.

For larger or more specialized needs (enterprise-wide rollouts, formal succession-planning infrastructure, or large-scale assessment work), we work with additional outside, trusted partners and will recommend that path openly when it’s genuinely the better fit for your organization’s size or scope — not as a default.

Beyond Coaching, When You Need It

Coaching is what we do ourselves — matching, not managing. When an organization’s actual need goes beyond coaching — workshops, assessments, succession infrastructure, strategy facilitation, board-level support — we’ll say so plainly rather than stretch coaching to cover a job it wasn’t built for.

Who This Is For

Executive coaching for organizations tends to serve a specific set of buyers rather than a single type of company:

  • HR and People leaders building out a coaching benefit for the first time
  • L&D leaders adding 1:1 coaching alongside existing training programs
  • Companies navigating a leadership transition, reorg, or rapid growth phase where multiple leaders need support at once
  • Boards or PE sponsors wanting coaching in place for a portfolio company’s leadership team
  • Organizations of any size — from small companies matching their first leader with a coach to larger, enterprise organizations running coaching across multiple teams
  • CEOs that need an outside lens to help them build the right programs.

How It Works

  1. Tell us the scope. One leader or several? One-time need or an ongoing program?
  2. Tell us the goal. Retention, succession-readiness, a specific performance gap, culture change.
  3. We match — and scale. Same fit-first matching as our individual coaching, applied across as many leaders as you need. If your need turns out to be more intensive than matching — ongoing program management, continuous measurement infrastructure — we’ll say so and point you to a trusted partner suited to that scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Enable Leaders work with companies, not just individuals?

Yes. While much of our matching serves individual, self-paying executives, we also build coaching programs for HR and L&D leaders sponsoring coaching for one leader, a small leadership cohort, or a broader program.

How is organizational coaching priced differently than individual coaching?

Organizational engagements are typically scoped and quoted based on the number of leaders involved and the depth of the program, rather than a single per-session rate. We’ll walk through pricing once we understand your scope.

Can you coach our whole leadership team at once?

Yes — we regularly match multiple coaches across a leadership cohort, using the same fit-first process for each leader so the matching stays consistent across the group. If a cohort engagement needs ongoing program management beyond matching, we’ll say so and point you to a trusted partner built for that.

How do you make sure coaching quality stays consistent across a whole team?

Every coach in a cohort engagement goes through the same fit-first vetting we use for individual clients — so quality doesn’t depend on which coach a given leader happens to draw. For programs that need ongoing measurement and oversight beyond matching, we’ll refer you to a trusted partner built for that kind of program management.

What if our organization’s need is bigger than what Enable Leaders handles directly?

We’ll tell you. For large-scale rollouts, formal succession-planning infrastructure, or extensive assessment work, we can point you toward additional resources suited to that scale rather than force an oversized program through our standard matching process.
